We hold monthly meetings from September to June and four outdoor painting days at venues around Hampshire in the summer. The meetings are varied in content with demonstrators in all mediums; speakers on various aspects of art, and members meetings involving group activities, such as life drawing. We hold at least four workshops in the winter months with tutors in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel or specialised subjects.
The Society runs daytime and evening classes, which are open to all, to help budding artists improve their painting techniques, as well as life and portrait classes for members.
The Society holds an Annual Exhibition in the Alresford Community Centre every summer that is open to all members regardless of ability; a running exhibition that is changed every three months in the Alresford Surgery.
Our email address is firstname.lastname@example.org and we appreciate it if members who are on the net could let us have their email address so that we can send all relevant information out in that way.
The society has obtained discount arrangements with Artworthy Framing in Alresford (15%), The Picture Framing Shop on Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford(7.5%) and Alternative Packaging Soulutions in Alton (10%). Make sure you take your Art Society membership card with you to claim your discount.
The Society has a library of books and DVDs for members to borrow. It is on display at most meetings and there is a small charge for borrowing each month, or until the next meeting. We would like members who have books or DVDs that they no longer use to donate them to the Society for other members to enjoy.
The Society has a continuous exhibition in the Alresford Surgery, by kind permission of the doctors, which is changed on a regular basis. Any member can volunteer a painting as there is no selection policy. Whilst members may sell paintings from time to time, the prime aim of the exhibition is to brighten the environment of visiting patients, whilst also promoting the Society and the skills of its members.
